NEW HAVEN — The Board of Alders, in its first in-person meeting in 16 months, went on the record unanimously in favor of something that isn’t really theirs to approve or reject — but could affect many of their constituents: U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s Medicare for All Act of 2021.
The 30-member board, meeting in person rather than on Zoom for the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic moved municipal meetings online in March 2020, unanimously approved a resolution that “calls on our federal legislators to work toward enactment of the Medicare for All Act of 2021, assuring appropriate and efficient health care for all residents of the United States.”
