Why Medicare for All?
In the United States, it is estimated that tens of millions of residents do not have health insurance at all. In Connecticut, pre-pandemic, there were an estimated 175,000 state residents without health insurance. And even many with health insurance have deductibles and out-of-pocket costs so high that they do not receive the care or prescription drugs they need. And everyone — insured or not — struggles with denials and unnecessary hurdles put in place by insurance companies in the current reality of health care.
A federal Medicare for All program, as well as a state-level single payer program, would guarantee health care to all residents — regardless of immigration status — with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, medical equipment, mental health, reproductive care, long-term services and supports including in home- and community-based settings, as well as prescription drugs. There would be no co-pays, deductibles or other out-of-pocket costs at the point of care.

What's more, by reducing administrative bloat and redundant billing departments, this system could actually decrease health care spending while improving outcomes.
Let's work together, to make guaranteed healthcare for all a reality.
