On World Health Day April 7, 2022 the New Britain Public Library in partnership with the New Britain Building Economic Equality (BEE NB) will hold a panel of speakers to discuss the state of healthcare, the struggle for Medicare for all, our health insurance industry’s profiteering, and the current landscape of healthcare in Connecticut.
The World Health Organization, which promotes World Health Day, has as its number one goal universal healthcare. Now more than ever, the pandemic has exposed how our inadequate and inequitable for-profit system of healthcare dominated by large unaccountable health insurance monopolies is a complete failure.
Join us for this stimulating panel to discuss this topic and what lies ahead for the prospects of universal healthcare. Our panelists are Sivan Amar and Holly Hackett, founding incorporating members of Medicare 4 All Connecticut, discussing pathways to universal healthcare in CT and America; Liz Dupont-Diehl from the Connecticut Citizen Action Group talking about their Five Families Campaign; Bill Shortell (former New Britain DTC chair) talking about where we are in CT and the public option; and Sherri Dayton RN, President of the Backus Hospital Nurses Union/AFT Healthcare Council.
